Spinach leaves can carry blood to grow human tissues
WPI research team shows spinach leaves stripped of plant cells can
become a vascular network to deliver blood, oxygen and nutrients to grow
human tissues like cardiac muscle to treat heart attack patients. This
green solution may solve the major problem now limiting the regeneration
of large section of human tissues, bone, even whole organs to treat
disease or traumatic injuries.
“Experimento Asiento”

Dangerous Roads in the World
Zoji La, India
Ladakh and Kashmir are connected by this 9-km-long road. On top
of everything, this road is extremely narrow, although it has to fit
in both drivers and livestock.
Transfăgărășan, Romania
This road is located in the Carpathian Mountains and pierces the
Făgăraș massif. It reaches a 2034-meter height and is the tallest road
in Romania. Transfăgărășan is known for its gorgeous sights and its
danger.
Dalton Highway, Alaska
Dalton Highway is the most isolated highway in the world.
It is 666 km long, and only connects 3 small villages. This road
is considered the snowiest highway in the world.
Khardung La, India
According to officials, this road is 5602 meters tall
(practically taller than Mount Elbrus). Guinness World Records and
National Geographic recognized Khardung La as the tallest pass road
in the world.
Yungas Road, Bolivia
This highway is one of the most dangerous roads in the world.
It takes 200 — 300 lives a year. Steep mountains are on one side, and
a cliff on the other (about 600 meters tall). It is scary to think about
driving on this road!
Atlantic Ocean Road, Norway
Atlantic Ocean Road connects small, coastal villages. By the way,
this road is really meant for tourists, because the sights there are
breathtaking.
Guoliang Tunnel, China
Guoliang Tunnel was built by the locals. A road cut out of the
mountain was the only way of communication between the village and the
outside world. Later, the government built a 1200-meter tunnel to help
the locals with transportation.
Le Passage du Gois, France
Weirdly enough, this road is only open for a few hours every day.
The road is hidden underwater for the rest of the day. Before entering
the 4.5 km highway, read the schedule of tides. Otherwise, your car will
simply sink.
Tianmen Mountain road, China
This road is 10 km long. It has 99 steep turns, and the
difference in height between its beginning and its end is about
1,000 meters. Drivers here definitely need nerves of steel.
Hana, Hawaii
This 112 km road connects Kahului and Hana, on the Hawaiian
island Maui. The narrow sinuous road connects 59 bridges, 46 of which
only have one lane. The road is often closed due to the landslides.
’Kolima’, Russia
The official title of the road that connects Yakutsk and Magadan
is ’Kolima’; however, people always call it ’the death road’. The first
90 km were built by 1932 by prisoners. The construction was complete
by 1953.
Col de la Bonette, France
This dangerous mountain pass is located on a 2000-meter height
in the French Alps, right by the Italian border. This road has steep and
unexpected turns.
Gotthard Pass, Switzerland
This is one of the tallest mountain passes in the Alps.
A 64-km-long road goes from side to side and surprises passengers with
its scenic views.
’Caucasus’ road, Russia
This narrow road connects Sochi and the Ritsa lake through the
mountains. It is scary and impressive at the same time. It’s worth
seeing at least once.
Eshima Ohashi bridge, Japan
Although it is just a bridge, it is as dangerous as the roads
we mentioned above. The bridge connects Sakaiminato and Matsue.
It is about 1.7 km long, and 11.3 meters wide. From the far, the bridge
seems impossible to climb. This height allows large ships to pass
underneath.

A light railway track has been built to go through a hole in a residential 19-storey building in China.
The
city of Chongqing in the south-east of the country has a population of
49 million packed into 31,000 square miles, causing urban planners to
look creatively at solving space issues.
A special railway station was built into the block of houses, set into the sixth to eighth floors.

the city of Chongqing, China
City planners built a railway station
in the building, from the sixth to eighth floors. Residents can hop on
the train from their own Liziba station
Residents can hop on Chongqing Rail Transit No.2 at their own Liziba station.
Even though they are living in close quarters to a busy train station, any noise has been muffled by special equipment.
To homeowners in the complex, the sound of the train is designed to be as disturbing as the noise from a dishwasher.
By doing this, planners avoided having to take the whole building down to make way for the train tracks.
A
city transport spokesman said: 'Our city is very heavily built upon and
that can make finding room
for roads and railway lines a real
challenge.'
The port city of Chongqing is one of the four municipalities in China and lies along the banks of the river Yangtze.
Even
though it is a densely populated area, it is nicknamed the Mountain
City because it lies around deep swathes of forest and hills.
