Nature is filled with so much beauty that we often forget how strange it can be.
Living among the lush green forests and beautiful flowers are animals so bizarre, they make the duck-billed platypus look relatively normal by comparison.
This creature, though, might just be the strangest animal we’ve ever seen. It doesn’t look anything like its name…or anything from this planet, for that matter!
This strange creature looks like a snake had a baby with an earthworm.
It’s called a Mexican mole lizard, even though it looks neither like a mole or a lizard!
It’s also known as the five-toed worm lizard, and somewhere during its evolution, it lost its rear limbs… but kept its front ones.
They’re found in the southern-most parts of North America, including Baja, California and Mexico.
They’re often found burrowing in the ground, surfacing only at night or during heavy rain.
These reptiles eat bugs like ants, termites, larvae, and earthworms. To make matters worse, they pull their prey down to below the surface and feast on them in their burrow holes.
