A schoolboy died after taking part in a ‘choking game’ that has become a disturbing online craze.
Karnel Haughton, 12, is believed to have played the game in his bedroom on Wednesday while his mum was out for a short time.

The boy, from Birmingham, died after he lost consciousness and suffocated, according to police.
In the new trend, videos have said to surface online showing teens choking.

A friend of the family, who wishes to remain anonymous, claimed his mother Gemma found her son’s body after returning from the shops.

The friend said: ‘But we don’t know if it was Karnel doing it to himself or not. The police have just said that his death is unexplained.

‘Everything since his death feels like a dream – you do not expect something like this to happen to anybody that you know, especially somebody that is so close to you.’
Local councillors will be visiting his school to talk to the children and see what they know.
People left flowers outside the family home in Lichfield on Sunday.

The tributes read: ‘To Gemma and family: my heart goes out to you. Rest in peace little man. Love from the Walker family.’

Another read: ‘So sorry for you, thinking of you all so much. Lots of love, Jay, JP and Dan xx’
Friends have rallied together and started a Go Fund Me page to raise money for the family.
‘We want to be able to raise some money for Karnel’s family so that we can give him the send-off that he deserves,’ the friend added.

Loved ones have described Karnel as a ‘happy young boy’ who had a ‘brilliant relationship with everyone’.
The death has been left with the coroner.
